Former Studio Ghibli film producer Yoshiaki Nishimura, has been an integral part of creating such a legacy for the Japanese animation studio helping to create such beautiful motion pictures such as Howl’s Moving Castle and When Marnie Was There; now we see something of his own studio’s creation.
Nishimura created Studio Ponoc and together with another legendary animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi (who is responsible for cult classics such as Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle) have created another soon to be fan favourite anime film Mary and the Witch’s Flower.
The story follows a young girl who has been exiled to her great aunts house and in the process, experiences the journey of a lifetime. Any Studio Ghibli fan will feel right at home watching this film as the character design, art style and colour palette strongly resemble that of the iconic animation house.
Slated for a 2017 release, keep your eyes peeled for more information.
